I'd love this title a lot. Particularly in today's turbulence time where the economy is not going any better as the matter of fact would be worsen coming months. As the President Obama struggling to get Congress pass through the bill to create jobs but that would be just process and structure point of view. The idea is great but getting it implemented would be a monumental efforts. As the crisis in Europe beginning to worsen than ever before especially on the amount of debts piled up. At any point of time, Europe economy may collapsed sooner than before.
So you still think creating jobs would be the right time? Well to answer it to the heart, we should have been creating jobs no matter what economy climate not till we have crisis. So who create jobs? Big corporates ? Governments? If you always have the mentality Big Corporates and Governments will eventually save the day, then I suggest you should open up your eyes a little wider. The reason being, in reality, the hero's that save the day is our own hard earned money. Yes! is yours and my money that we used to pay all our taxes! Shocking? Well hard to swallow, but like it or not we are paying for the people that we thought could be entrusted that screwed all these things up.
Now you asked, if it's true who is actually doing the jobs creation? The answer are also, us as "entrepreneurs". Yes, you Joe the plumber, Nancy the florist, James the barber, Bill the Pizza owners, Kelly the attorney, Phil the cleaning service company and many more. Still don't get it? Well, Big Corporates that you recognized now are used to be these small business owners once before and in U.S alone, it has been contributed almost half of the GDP and there are about 30 over millions of them in your local neighborhood now.
This is where so excited to me that I got to do what I intend and being passion about it in my life time, being an entrepreneur. Of course being a boss on your own is kind of cool thing, but if you did not managed it well, it is no difference like you're getting another job. But the idea of being entrepreneur to me is not only to be my own boss, most people want to earn more money and to be free from the rat race. However, my dream is to empower most entrepreneurs out there and to get their business at where they are now to the next level. I used to be thinking to earn more income by starting a business but the problem I realized that without a real purpose being an entrepreneur, then whatever we do in the end of the day would be meaningless.
Instead of just working on my practice as coach or consultant, I need to turn that into a business model so it could sustain and help more clients without geographical boundary. As always, your business should aim to free you up as much as possible & not giving you more issues and work. There's an article though a little over year ago, but still prove to be my statement somewhat near accurate. In this article, http://wadhwa.com/2010/08/14/startups-or-behemoths-which-are-we-going-to-bet-on/ there are more startups that create jobs than any other corporates, it turn out existing companies are net jobs destroyer up to 1 million jobs a year while the startups putting up close to 3 Million jobs. So it should make sense that the "real actual" jobs creator are the small business owners and startups.
On the other hand, our current education system would not be able to catch up of what we as an entrepreneur is doing. We are constantly keeping up the reality whilst the colleges and university focus on concepts & theories that probably would not work before you graduated. As an information entrepreneur, we constantly need to work on new updated stuffs that would help business owners to thrive and transform at all times. We spend quite a bit of our time educating and teaching it out. In the article http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/23/opinion/sunday/will-dropouts-save-america.html?_r=4&pagewanted=all, by author Michael Ellsberg, author of The Education Millionaires, mentioned that almost all of what we used today are created or produced by the college dropouts. Sure, if you wanna be doctor, lawyers and accountants, college would be wise to built your professionals. But starting a business do not required an MBA that get you in debt at this challenging time.
So if you want to become entrepreneur, then take a hard look and be realistic on it. I remember a mentor used to mention to me in a seminar, "We as an entrepreneurs are very unique in this world as our primarily role not only just built business and earn more money. More than that, we create jobs and these would help spur the economy further at all times. If millions of graduates just want to look for jobs and when the economy crisis happened without any jobs, what would you do? You cannot just create jobs when things does not work. Jobs creation is an on going process."
With that, my entrepreneurship existence aspirations would be:-
- Help built more trustworthy and genuine entrepreneurs that create new jobs.
- Take their businesses on innovative information marketing approach that lead them to next level.
- Ensure all entrepreneurs stay thrive and transform at all times regardless whatever circumstances on their mindset.
